You might think this is simpler said than done. But the truth is all you have to do to begin picturing things in a different way is to think about the things you are grateful for, especially the things, people, memories and events you’ve taken for granted.
In Psycho-Cybernetics you are encouraged to relive previously successful experiences. Ever wonder why?
Most people who read the book skip this part of the formula. They’re focused on why their life isn’t good enough yet. Or they focus solely upon what they want and forget about past victories.
Everything is about goals for the future, what’s wrong about what’s happening now, while never stopping to ponder what is already going well, or why what you’re experiencing is a blessing.
Dr. Maltz didn’t spell it out with this term, but when he advised you to recall positive memories before visualizing goals for the future, he was teaching you how to activate the Law of Gratitude.
If you will take the time to ponder what you have to be grateful for, a corresponding positive feeling descends upon you and activates a state of flow in your brain and nervous system, and this internal flow expands. When the flow expands, it goes outside of you and begins to positively influence everything in your life.
A few months ago a client of mine was down on his luck. I told him to use the Law of Gratitude. At first he didn’t think it would do anything. He needed more marketing and business strategies.
But he gave it a whirld, albeit reluctantly.
Within days, many of his problems began to clear. He didn’t have the money to pay a new set of tires for his car. From out of the blue a friend showed up and bought him a new set.
Others came to his aid in other ways.
His business began to grow, even in what many would think of as the “worst of times.”
The Law of Gratitude is so powerful that it works even when everything else has failed. It works in the darkest of days. It works when everything seems hopeless.
Take time each day to give thanks to the Creator, to others… as well as to yourself.
Give thanks for the good and the not so good.
Turn whatever happens to you into a positive.
Begin and end your day with Gratitude.
Thank you.
Here endeth today’s lesson.
