When you win an award that you worked on achieving, it feels great. But there’s something about winning an award when it’s a surprise.
Case in point: Yesterday I received notification that I’ve been selected as Inside Kung Fu’s Hall of Fame Writer of the Year. When I received word, I sat back in my chair, inhaled deeply and looked into the vast unknown.
This is strange, I thought. It’s the first award I’ve ever been given as a writer despite being involved in the craft for 20 years.
How do I even react to achieving an award I never even thought about?
After a few minutes of contemplation, I felt an extreme sense of gratitude and wonder. I’m grateful for this selection – yet I also wonder which is better, to pursue a goal and get it or to be surprised when you achieve something you weren’t even thinking about.
I’ll take them both – but I’ll keep wondering…
Even so, I want to include all of you in this celebration, so I’m putting together a special on many of my products. I’ll let you know what it is tomorrow.
So make sure you keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow’s email. It’s going to Be BIG.
Best,
Matt Furey
