It doesn’t matter.
You can get up early in the morning or you can stay up really late.
The benefits to you, your career and your life are nearly the same, perhaps even better.
They are definitely better for me.
Personally, I’m not a fan of the get up at 5 AM club.
I get my best work done and make the most progress as a night owl, a moonlighter.
If I go to bed early, I still have to overcome resistance to get myself going in the morning.
But if I stay up late – and I mean well past midnight, I’m already in flow. I get more done with zero resistance, and when I finally go to sleep, I’m pleased with what I accomplished. I’m grateful for the good day I had.
As a result, that same day, I wake up energized.
Last night I went to bed at 2 AM. And I got up at 7:30, raring to go.
I got two hours of mega productive time in between 11:30 PM and 1:30 AM.
It was super quiet and peaceful. The same as you’ll encounter at 5 AM – me thinks.
This is why I say “it doesn’t matter.”
It doesn’t matter if you get up early or stay up really late – so long as you get a couple solid hours of productive time in, during the early morning hours, when it is quiet and peaceful.
If you’ve tried, unsuccessfully, to follow a 5 AM regimen, give the power of moonlighting a whirl. The key hours are 11 PM – 1 AM. You can stay up longer if you so desire, but those are the hours where you’ll begin enjoying the greatest benefits.
See it. Feel it. Be it.
