What is the greatest goal a person can achieve?
It is the goal you will probably never think of setting.
And if you did set it as a goal, you would probably never achieve it because it runs away from the person who seeks it.
The very seeking of it is no different than the dog chasing its tail.
What am I referring to?
Riches, wealth, abundance, money, fame, health, friendships, and so on?
None of the above.
It’s an elusive quality that Dr. Maltz wrote and spoke about. He called it “the greatest port in the world.”
What is it then?
It is ….
Peace of Mind
“With it – you have everything,” Maltz wrote.
But peace of mind cannot be attained by turning it into a goal. You attain it by the doing and the not-doing of certain things.
You attain it by training your mind – and as a result, you feel connected and whole. You feel a sense of not needing anything because you already have it all.
That’s peace of mind.
You attain it by being so deeply connected to the present moment, the now, that everything appears to disappear – even though it is still there.
If the above is confusing, I understand.
How can you describe the indescribable?
One thing I can tell you is there is no
permanent peace of mind on this earth.
You can find peace of mind each and every day, and live it, but if you stop doing what you were doing when it happened, or engage in what you weren’t doing when it happened, it’ll be gone again.
When your mind is clear and silence permeates your being, then peace of mind will arrive – and so will you.
