I honestly couldn’t believe what I saw – even after I watched the replays.
It looked like the dumbest play EVER in Super Bowl history. If you’re a Seahawks fan.
If you’re a Patriots fan – it’s the greatest play you’ve ever witnessed.
Today, the more I think about it, the more I realize that I’ve been in a similar place in my own mind when it comes to dumb mistakes.
MOST of US have a dumbest mistake EVER operating in our minds. All of us did something stupid, said something dumb, made a game-losing move, gave the wrong answer at the correct time – and so on.
Somewhere, sometime, somehow.
And if we don’t clear away the anger, the guilt, the frustration, that memory is still there in our subconscious, haunting us.
If we had the misfortune of making our mistake on an international stage – UGGH.
That’s the AGONY of Defeat at it’s zenith.
Yet, it’s simultaneously an opportunity to grow and make yourself better.
Every mistake is a memory with emotion. If the emotion is positive, we can use that memory to create more of the same. If the memory is negatively charged, we can learn from it and grow – but ONLY if we purge the dark energy surrounding the mistake.
In Theatre of the Mind, I tell the story of the big mistake I made as a 19-year old – and how the day I cleansed the negative emotion from it was the day I was set free.
Got something you’d like to set free? Some experience? Some hurt, heartache or dumb mistake?
