There’s an idea in the self-development industry that goes as follows:
“You must write down your goals if you expect to achieve them. If you don’t write down your goals, you will fail.”
This is another one of those promises that sounds good, theoretically, but quite often, doesn’t deliver.
First of all, the majority of people who attend seminars on goal setting do NOT achieve their goals, even though they follow directions and write them down.
Second, there are successful people who do NOT write down their goals.
Third, there are people who achieve the goals they don’t write down, yet fail to achieve the ones wherein they “follow the program.”
Fourth, some people achieve virtually every goal they put in writing.
Fifth, some people achieve some of the goals they put on pen and paper.
Where do you think you fit in the scenario I listed above.
Drop me a line and let me know.

P.S. Am I against writing down goals? Not at all. I’ve achieved goals that were not in writing as well as goals that were written out. I’ve also failed to achieve goals I put in writing as well as those I didn’t write out. There is a difference in mindset in the areas wherein you accomplish a goal that is “in your head” and/or on paper. Just want to see your thoughts on this matter.
