Back in 2011, I was at a baseball training camp for pitchers. And one of the elite coaches told me the following when it came to visualization:
“I don’t visualize. I just do it.”
“That’s not possible,” I remarked.
“What do you mean it’s not?” he asked. “That’s what I do.”
“No it isn’t. It’s what you think you’re doing. What you are doing when you say that you’re just doing it, is quickly seeing an image in your mind and before you can think more about it, you immediately jump into action. You’re one of those fortunate people who think so fast in mental pictures that you assume you’re not doing it at all. Yet, you are.”
Even though I had no intention of changing this coach’s mind, I got his attention. So much so that he began studying with me and passing what I taught him onto the pitchers he trained.
18 months later he had a battalion of pitchers throwing 90 miles per hour. Prior to this he had a handful.
Visualization made the difference.
Now, the question remains: Is visualization a form of positive thinking?
Some people erroneously lump it into that category, but to me, visualization is quite a bit different.
Positive thinking is mostly about thinking with positive words.
Effective visualization doesn’t necessarily need any words.
Anyway, there’s a lot more on this subject I will get into in the future, but for now, what I recommend you do is picture yourself getting a HUGE AHA as you watch my latest video about positive thinking, which includes information on when it can work, as well as when it most definitely doesn’t.
This one video has a secret charge to it that can change your results in seconds.
See it. Feel it. Be it.
