Every once in awhile someone asks me how I come up with so many ideas to write about.

The answer is simple: I take time to ask myself specific questions – then I let my subconscious mind fork over the answers.

And once I get the answers, I don’t second-guess myself for a month or two about whether the idea is good; I will only know for sure if I DO something. So the faster I begin DOING, the better off I’ll be.

In addition to asking good questions, I take time to read good books and newsletters. I subscribe to a boatload of newsletter and audio programs. I eat breakfast with the written word – and when I’m driving I listen to CDs that educate, enlighten and cause breakthrough after breakthrough in my thinking – followed by my reality.

Most importantly, I take time to breathe deeply, to exercise and to visualize. This alone frees my mind and gives me greater capacity to create what I want.

Regardless of whatever success I have achieved thus far in life, I don’t think I’m unusual in any way. I believe everyone has an idea creation machine working for him night and day. The differerence between mine and others is that I don’t spit and stomp on the ideas my brain kicks out.

I have great respect for my ideas – even those I change. Even those I reject for a better idea.

I understand the idea machine works best when you don’t condemn it. Let the ideas flow and choose the ones you like best. And once you find something that gets you excited, start doing whatever it takes to bring the idea into reality.

If you don’t, it’s almost guaranteed someone else will. And you’ll be the one standing around saying, “Hey, I had the same idea a few years ago.”

Yes, you did. But ideas that are not acted upon don’t belong to you. They belong to the Universe.

Have ideas you want to nurture. Or do you want to become an idea machine. Someone who acts upon what he wants and gets the job done.

A lot of people use the term “time management” – but there’s really no such thing.

You cannot manage time – nor can you control it.

You can only choose to do or not do certain things. That’s it.

Sort of like the sun. You cannot manage or control the sun – or the moon. But you can choose to be outdoors in view of it – or indoors out of view.

You’ve probably become accustomed to hearing other people (and quite possibly yourself) saying, “There’s not enough time in the day” or “I don’t have any time.”

Since when are we the decider on how much time there should be in each day? And how can you not have any time?

Time and energy are all we have. You either use them to the full – for things that matter to you – or you use them for anything that grabs your attention at the moment.

Saying “there’s no time” is like saying “there’s no muney.”

There are always plenty of both. Depends on your view. And not your view on the outside. It depends upon how you see things on the inside.

The next time you think there’s a shortage of time – or think that you need to manage time – change your mental picture to the following:

“I have time to do what is most important to me.”

Now, you may be wondering if I have a “system” that helps me get everything that’s important to me done.

I sure do – and I can assure you it’s not one of those “planners” you see people lugging around.

Next time you feel like you’re being assaulted with “things to do” – take a moment to consider the following:

a. You’ll get more done faster if you focus on one thing at a time.

Consider the surgeon. He performs one operation after another, all day long. He doesn’t think about the NEXT surgery while doing the first. If he does he’ll botch the job he’s on.

b. When you feel pressure to get “everything” done – focus on the area between your neck and shoulder blades – your “traps.”

You’ve probably heard people talking about having “monkeys on their back.” It’s how people talk about time pressure, their projects, etc. “Gotta get these monkeys off my back.”

Truth is you get them off your back by focusing on one thing at a time – and anytime you feel pressure rising, take a deep breath and focus on your upper neck and back.

Feel any monkeys.

If so, change your mental picture. Take them off.

I assure you they are slowing you down. They are NOT helping you move faster. They are not helping you get things done.

The best way to get things done is to make a list of what you have to do before you begin. Then take a few moments to breathe deeply and relax. See yourself getting the first thing done. Then the next.

See yourself doing all these things without pressure, without tension – without a single monkey.

Once you’ve accomplished the first thing on your list, then “clear the computer screen.”

Let your mind go blank. Compartmentalize. What you just accomplished is now done. Congratulate yourself.

Now see the next thing being accomplished. Center and focus. Then hop to it and do it.

You might think juggling three things at once is the key to getting things done.

You might think that feeling overwhelmed, slammed, swamped and beaten bloody are better ways to ponder your daily “to do list.”

I don’t think so.

Take a moment to visualize all the stress monkeys on your back. Then see all of them going away. See yourself totally focused and totally relaxed – in the flow.

I challenge you to do this.

Stop scratching your head. Relax, smile, breathe and focus.

Do this for the next thing on your list today. Then on the next. And so on. See how many things you can knock out in a spirit of calm and relaxation.

I’m betting you’ll be surprised.

Dear Success Seeker,

I used to be a bundle of negative thoughts and feelings. I had many fears, doubts and worries.

Today I’m the total opposite.

When I go through my day I have very different thoughts and feelings than the average person.

I am totally relaxed. I rarely feel any stress. I’m not a victim of worry, fear, anxiety or depression. Nor do I feel guilty or ashamed about who I am.

I don’t have negative feelings about money or success – nor am I jealous of those who have bigger cars, homes or bank accounts.

I don’t think of what I do as work because my JOB is nothing but doing what I love to do. I did what I loved to do as an athlete and martial artist – and today I’m this way as a writer, speaker and entrepreneur.

I travel the world, running my business with a cell phone and lap top computer. Last year I was on vacation for no less than 90 days. This year I plan to visit a few more countries and take even more time off – spending it with my wonderful wife and two tremendous children.

As a family we live part of the year in sunny Florida and the other part on very sunny Hainan Island in China.

The above may sound more than a bit arrogant or braggy – but I can assure you that things were very different for me when my mind was cluttered with a junkyard full of negative thoughts and feelings.

This past weekend I was in Manhattan with the members of my Billionaire Brain Group.

Friday night we went to see Young Frankenstein – and watching it set the tone for transformations to take place on Saturday.

BIG IDEAS flowed through the meeting room like honey coming from a hive. And provided every member follows through with what he learned – the returns will be massive.

One of the biggest breakthroughs for the group was discovering the unconscious signals they send non-verbally when they talk, write, walk, listen and so on.

So many people rely on words or feelings alone to make sense of their world. But this is like going to a motion picture with the curtain closed.

Last week I wrote about getting a Wheel of Fortune poster for free – by subscribing to the Psycho-Cybernetics Success Group, which you can still do.

One person wrote me to say, “Come on. Some people are visual. Some are auditory and some are tactile or feeling oriented. A poster for an auditory is a waste of time. He’s better off with an audio of affirmations. Someone who is feeling-oriented won’t even see the poster, etc.”

My response: Then we might as well do away with movies and televisions for these people, too. As well as magazines, books and websites.

Fact is that your mind responds to ALL and can be trained in ALL.

Yes, you may be predisposed to hearing and feeling first, instead of picturing – but when you add the picturing – or if you have visual reminders of what you want in life – this can only help you. It cannot in any way hurt you or interfere with your preferred sense.

Truth is that having visual reminders, like the Wheel of Fortune poster will help you A LOT – even if you don’t think it will make any difference.

Now, a little about me:

For years I thought I was NOT a visual person. Due to my martial arts and wrestling background – my sense of feel is off the charts. And when I write I hear the words I want to record inside my own head.

Yet, the biggest breakthroughs, for myself and for those I have coached, came when I ramped up the visual sense and brought it to life.

In my Psycho-Cybernetics Success Group I have taken people who had been told they weren’t visual; or who thought they couldn’t think in pictures – and I proved to each and every one that he could very easily add the visual element to his arsenal.

As a result: 100% of the people in my classes learn to visualize and they’re able to do so, with ease, in less than 10 minutes. Long-time students of the mind were stunned. One NLP Master even said this was the first time I had ever been in a seminar in which “everyone” learned to visualize.

When a person learns to think in pictures for the first time – or to do it in an empowering way – his or her life changes dramatically. A whole new world is opened to them that they didn’t know existed.

As for feelings …

I had a lady who said she couldn’t FEEL when she visualized. Within 90 seconds of telling me this I took her to a place that caused tears to flow like Niagara Falls.

As for auditory …

People have said I can write “stream of consciousness” because I’m auditory and hear the words in my head before I write them.

Yet, last May I took a roomful of 58 people who didn’t think they heard the words inside their heads and brought this sense to life. As a result each and every one of the 58 who stayed (I threw two out early) learned how to write email copy – with ease.

Saying “I’m this one” – then blocking out other methods of learning is not the most intelligent way to approach learning something. Get ALL your senses involved.

Never think for one second that you cannot think in pictures – or that you’re not visual – or that you’re primarily this one or the other one. Work on developing all to the FULL and your life will become super charged.

Posters help. Audio CD’s help. So do DVDs – movies, books and so on.

And so does getting out of your chair and moving your body.

Staying focused on your goals is mostly about remembering them. The more ways you have to call attention to your goals – the better.
