The Question to Ask Yourself TodayDear Friend,
This is the time of year for those annual resolutions.
I'm going to do this, or that, and blah-blah-yada-yada-yada.
Very few people follow through on whatever resolutions they make, whether it's just one, or several.
I'll give you some advice. Actually I'm passing this advice down from a British clergyman who has been dirt napping for almost 200 years.
The dearly departed Reverend August W. Hare said, "Be what you are. This is the first step toward - becoming better - than you are."
He and Dr. Maltz never met on earth, but they were of like mind.
And who knows, maybe they are working together now.
A good question to ask yourself today would be, "What do I want to accomplish while being what I am?"
Determining who/what you are is not difficult. You take a little time and reflect. If you don't like what you are, Dr. Maltz can help you change your self image. This is where the doctor parts company with the cleric. But the Reverend was on the right track 200 years ago.
If you want some inspiration on what you can accomplish, pick up a copy of Ron Chernow's bio of Alexander Hamilton. In my humble opinion, Hamilton is the single greatest American who ever lived, bar none. This country would never have survived without his vision.
He had his flaws, but when you stack his accomplishments next to them, the accomplishments soar to the sky, and his flaws top out around the second floor.
If you do pick up this book, keep in mind that everything Hamilton wrote was in longhand, there was none of the fancy technology we take for granted today. I can only speculate where he would have gone if computers had been available then.
Reflect. Acknowlege. Plan. Execute the Plan.
Hamilton had flaws, but so do we all. We'll never be perfect. But our accomplishments can stand tall, just like his.
P.S., You probably noticed that I took a long holiday break, but I will be back on a regular basis next week. From Matt and I, best wishes for a wonderful new year. As always, for the best information on how to improve your life, and move toward the prosperity you deserve, go now here.
