Thick Skinned Success

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

A good way to determine how focused you are on achieving a goal can be done via the ‘skin-fold’ test – but not the kind used for measuring percentages of bodyfat.

The ‘skin-fold’ test I am talking about is not really about your epidermis. It’s more of an internal condition that is commonly referred to as ‘thick skin.’

All successful people have ‘thick skin.’

By this I mean they have more immunity to criticism than others. They are able to block the negativity of others and stay focused on the task at hand.

Whenever a person sets out to accomplish something great, rest assured he or she will be met with criticism.

Oftentimes the criticism is severe.

What’s the anti-dote?

First, stay focused on what you believe in. The faith that you alone have in your purpose may be enough to move mountains.

Second, keep in mind that the criticism will eventually pass. When you succeed, you’ll be amazed at how many people jump on board to celebrate, including those who tried to derail you.

Third, take time each day to relive previous experiences of happiness and peace of mind. Think about the things you’ve already accomplished. Put them in your Theatre of The Mind and use them as the rocket fuel you need to keep zigging and zagging toward your predetermined destination.

The world famous Zero Resistance Living Course can serve as the high-octane fuel that guides you to success.

Ah, it’ll be fabulous when you get there. But – it’ll also be fabulous when you go there NOW – well in advance of arriving there physically.

Best,

Matt Furey

How Long Can You Concentrate?

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Imagine this: You’re sitting before your computer working on a project. Perhaps it’s a book, an email, or an article. Or you’re doing research.

The phone rings.

Do you answer it?

A new email chimes.

Do you immediately read it?

A text message arrives.

Do you look at it and reply?

Your wife or husband or child enters.

Do you stop everything you are doing and answer their questions?

Question: How easily are you distracted?

The other day I was reading that the average person can only concentrate on one thing for about five minutes.

He’s got so many gadgets and gizmos that he can never rest or relax mentally. The cell phone, blackberry and ipod is always with him. He sleeps with them at his side. Cannot go for a walk without them. Or attend a movie or concert.

Can’t eat a meal with his family without looking at his gadget.

Now, I am NOT saying you should get rid of all your gadgets. I’m not saying to stop using technology.

What I’m saying is that peace of mind, happiness and the ability to achieve your goals has a lot to do with how long you can concentrate on one thing.

And if you can’t go for a walk, watch a movie or have dinner with family or friends without constantly checking your tweets and text messages – if you can’t leave all your gadgets at home or away from your reach for extended periods of time – then you most likely have a lot of trouble finishing projects that require deep concentration and focus.

Here are some things that I do that you may find helpful:

1. I put my gadgets in another room when I go to bed at night.

2. I do not bring my gadgets with me when I go for a walk.

3. I do not bring my gadgets with me when I am eating with family or friends – and if I do – I do not use them when we’re talking.

4. If I am working on a project, like this very email, I do not respond to pings, pong, pangs or anything else. Everything can wait until I am finished with what I set out to do.

5. If I am talking to someone who allows himself to be continually interrupted by pings, calls and tweets – I end the encounter because the person you are dealing with is letting you know that he values his gadgets more than you.

Now, if you’re the type of person who likes his gadgets more than accomplishing something worthwhile – then no argument from me.

On the other hand, if you realize you could probably get more done in less time if you simply turned everything else off – or let it ring or chime, unanswered, for extended periods of time – then you’d be amazed at how you’ve eliminated a great deal of the unwanted resistance you may have to success.

In fact, if you really want to get more things done in less time – with next to no interruptions, then you’d better learn to do nothing more than concentrate on what you want – in such a way that you feel as if nothing is blocking you whatsoever.

No resistance.

No turbulence.

No sand paper rubbing against you as you go through life.

Instead, a resistance free feeling flowing against your skin and through your veins.

You get up in the morning with things to do – and you get them done. Day after day. Week after week. Year after year.

Thousands upon thousands of days in which you get ‘er done because you know the power of a focused mind.

If you’re nodding your head in agreement about your need to focus and concentrate – without resistance – then the world famous Zero Resistance Living Course is for you.

This extraordinary course is what the super successful use to get more things done in less time. Why not join us?

Light Shower

If you’ve never given the term ‘equinox’ any attention whatsoever, perhaps you will after viewing this photo taken from the Mayan pyramid in Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico, on March 22.

In this other photo I’m practicing my kung fu before the wall at the ball court in Chichen Itza.

In a few days a special report on my trip will be sent to all members of the Super Human Success Group. Make sure you’re a member so you receive this important message.

Power of the Mayan Pyramids

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

19 years ago I traveled to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico for the first time. I spent a week there swimming on the beaches in Cozumel, snorkeling – then visiting ancient ruins in Chichenitza, Tulum and Uxmal.

A week ago today I went back, this time to explore in much more detail. But not with a modern day tour guide. Instead, I traveled with a Mayan Elder who gives you the true insider information about such topics as human sacrifices, the connection the cosmos has with our own bodies, the Mystery of 2012, and so on.

I’ve written about the experience for the March issue of Super Human Success – the monthly newsletter and audio program I publish as part of the Psycho-Cybernetics program.

If you’re fascinated by the Mayans and what they can teach us about using our minds to create greater success, harmony and happiness in life – then you’re going to love this edition.

How Many Goals to Focus On?

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

“Matt, I have a lot of goals. When I visualize, should I concentrate on just one or should I picture all of them?”

This is a good question – and I have two answers. They are as follows: Yes – and No.

Let me give the “yes” portion of the answer first.

If you have a written list of goals, or if you keep them on 3×5 cards (as I do), you can quickly go through each one – and with “open eyes” make a quick mental snapshot to remind yourself of what it is that you want. This alone, can help you achieve your goals because the more often you remind yourself of your goal(s) the more quickly you take the necessary action to turn them into reality.

And now for the “no” part of the answer:

When you go into the “theatre of your mind” and begin visualizing, it is best to focus on one specific goal. Yes, you CAN focus on more than one – but you’re better off with only one.

Here’s a simple way to illustrate why this is so:

Suppose you are outside on a sunny day with a magnifying glass and you want to start a fire. What would happen if you quickly moved the magnifying glass from place to place? Not much, right?

But what if you find a spot and focus the magnifying glass on that spot and leave it there? What would happen?

If you said, you would start a fire – you are correct.

The same is true with goals. Concentration and focus are key. They are how you build a fire of desire.

And the amazing thing about focus is this: If you focus on one goal, if you really fix your mind on a single objective – a lot of your other goals will catch the heat wave and get accomplished, even when you aren’t consciously ‘working’ on them.

Now the only issue for many people is exactly how to focus on your goals. What visualization secrets do I have that help me get what I want accomplished faster than anything else?

Tis a great question – and it’s one I’m going to cover in great detail in my 17 Minutes to Success Coaching Program.

For now, let me give you a hint: The secret of visualization is NOT visualization.

It’s something else that is far, far easier to do – and yields much faster results.

As part of the 17 Minutes to Success Coaching Program you’ll be given the answer that will lead to a huge CHANGE for the better.

Hate to Lose

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

Make no mistake about it. Winners hate to lose more than they love to win.

The pain and humiliation of losing often drives them to victory.

They use it to fuel their lives with passion, purpose and power.

Winners in business are no different. They hate poverty. They hate losing.

I’ve been on both sides of the equation in sports, martial arts and business. And I can unequivocally say that the losses did more to influence my character than the wins.

Winning is not just hard work; nor is it only created through enthusiasm.

Winning comes to you faster when you hate losing; when you realize that mistakes and failure are there to push you to greater heights of achievement; to help you overcome all odds – not to derail, demotivate or discourage you.

And this very attitude is part of what I’ll be bringing your way in my all NEW 17 Seconds to Success Coaching Program.

Enrollment is limited on this six-week tele-coaching program – because I want to get the most out of each and every
person on the calls.

If you want to move to the next level in your business, career or any other area of life – then enroll in this program pronto – while there’s still time.
