Confessions of a Dumb Jock

Friday, January 30th, 2009

“Stick with exercise.”

That’s the message I’ve heard over and over – since I began writing emails and articles online, way back in 1996.

In the beginning, the message was, “Stick with wrestling and martial arts.”

Earlier today one of my friends at Facebook told me to “stick with exercise.”

I refused. He protested further. I refused. He got even more upset. I refused. Finally, he relented.

And we’re still friends.

Since 1996 I have written on many, many topics. And anyone who has ever gone to one of my LIVE events knows that you’re in for FAR more than what was advertised – on a wide array of subjects.

One of my favorite authors, Mark Twain, wrote a biography entitled, Joan of Arc. Word is that Joan of Arc is the book he’s MOST proud of writing.

Although much of what Twain wrote fit into the “novel” category – he also wrote and spoke on many other topics.

Many people didn’t like this. They wanted to pigeon-hole him, to label him, to categorize him as being “one” thing.

Twain resisted. He broke the mold and tossed it away.

I keep Twain’s story in mind whenever I want to venture into NEW territory. I keep it in mind whenever someone wants to slot me into the “dumb jock” category.

As a teenager, whenever I got called “dumb jock” – I hated it. I wanted to kick butt on the spot.

Today, I simply smile and keep moving.

Soren Kierkegaard – who, like the insidious Karl Marx, shares the same birthday with me, once wrote, “Once you label me, you negate me.”

This is precisely what people want to do when they begin name calling. Negate and/or destroy.

In modern day America, for example, if you don’t agree with the current president, there are some who will call you a racist, or a hate monger – or best of all, unpatriotic.

When Mao began the Cultural Revolution in China, wherein children were allowed to berate and beat adults – to destroy homes, temples, museums, libraries and so on – anyone who had an inkling of interest in western culture was labeled as Bourgeoisie. And you were tortured for the belief the kids had about you. On a personal level, there are people around you right now who’ve labeled you in some way. And they want you to, for their own sake, stick with the ONE label they’ve tagged upon you.

Ignore these labels with every fiber of your being.

Don’t bother getting upset. That’s a waste of time and energy. Just let the person know that you’ll be who you please to be. Let the person know he or she does not have the right to cast a spell upon you and make you into the image he has of you.

Yes, we cast spells each day with the words we use. We also send forth blessings. And we do the same to the ‘self’ residing within.

Don’t label yourself with restrictive terminology. Keep the doors open wide.

Venture into new arenas.

Try something new.

Channel the confidence you have in one familiar area of success and put it into the area where you need more encouragement.

Be a “no limits” human being.

Toss aside the fear others have about you. Cast their dark shadows of despair into the abyss, where they belong.

WALK valiantly and without trepidation toward the things in life that matter most to you.

Religion and Politics are …

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Karl Marx, the heavyweight champion of enslaving the masses, was fond of saying, “Religion is the opiate of the people.”

Being that the Zen Master of the Internet has the same birthday as Marx, I feel that it’s my duty to adjust his saying a bit.

“Politics is the opiate of the people.”

There is no ‘rising up’ when you put your faith in government – yet that is what the politicians hope you’ll do.

And if you do, your vision for the future is bleak.

Anytime you view others as the source of your supply – you limit yourself.

Let me prove it to you:

Make a mental picture of the government giving you food and money and a job.

Okay, got it.

Now mentally pretend that God, the Universe, Infinity, the Cosmos, or whatever you choose to call it, is the source of your supply. Imagine that you are being supplied by the invisible force that moves the wind, shines the sun, darkens the sky and grows everything on this planet. Imagine that while the sun is shining upon you – you find the resources, learn the skills and take the actions that will prosper you.

Picturing the Infinite as the source of your supply will change how you feel. It will also change your world, the actions you take in it and the results you obtain.

Picturing the government doing it for you, on the other hand, will do almost nothing to give you a sense of happiness, peace of mind or fulfillment. It will only make you worse off than ever before.

I don’t trust politicians, and I wonder why so many people do, especially when the vast majority of them are NOT doing what is best for the people they are supposedly serving.

$700 billion in the fall – now another $819 billion – and soon after another $400 billion – and then – and then – and then.

There is no way we’ll ever be able to repay the money we are printing. We won’t even be able to pay back the interest.

Yet, we’re being told that all will be okay if we keep our faith in the politicians.

I prefer to place my faith in the Infinite – and the connection I have to it. I prefer to believe in a Creator who gave me and you the power of a creative imagination and the ability to make a heaven out of hell.

I prefer to use my imagination in a way that we’re not seeing on Capitol Shrill; a way in which we don’t dig a hole into the center of the earth in order to move upward.

All success begins in the mind of man through the faculty of his creative imagination. You imagine the way you want your life to be – and then you pay attention to what is going on outside of you to prevent what you’re envisioning from coming true.

In my study of Chinese martial arts I keep the following saying in mind, “Look forward – listen backward.”

This phrase alone will increase your psychic self-defense by 100 percent in a heartbeat. To create what you want in life you don’t just pay attention to the offensive maneuvers you are using. You also pay attention to what you need to do to ward off those who want to keep you from succeeding.

You imagine success – but you also imagine the WORST possible things happening and how you’ll respond IF they ever do.

Doing this will increase your chances another 100 percent, at least.

Michael Phelps won the 200-meter butterfly in the Beijing Olympics even though his goggles were filled with water for at least 150 meters of the race.

He couldn’t see at all.

How did he win.

He counted his strokes.

How did he know to count his strokes. Well, in his imagination he played out the worst scenarios and what could happen to prevent him from winning the gold. And one of those scenarios was how he would respond if his goggles filled with water.

When it happened, he knew what to do.

What’s your back-up plan.

Do you have a psychic shield up to defend yourself against all the negative energies permeating our world. If not, you better get one.

Have you mentally pictured what you’ll do IF our country undergoes a total financial collapse – or another terrorist attack.

If you haven’t – you might want to consider doing so. All studies show that those who survive when times are tough are the very people who did as Michael Phelps did when winning the 200-meter butterfly.

To get you started, go watch the two videos I have up.

Then make sure you order the world famous Zero Resistance Living Program.

P.S. Later today I’m going to film a powerhouse DVD filled with protections you can begin using to keep yourself in a positive state of mind, even if you’re fighting for your life. Stay tuned.

Close Encounters With Negative Energy

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

One of the greatest keys to greatness is knowing how to navigate through life without tension, without nervousness or fear.

Very few people know how to eliminate their fears. Instead, they are paralyzed by them.

Very few people know how to mount an effective offense to score the winning touchdown in life.

What’s worse is that most people have neither an effective offense or a sound psychic defense.

And most of those who manage to create an offense don’t know that a defensive strategy is also important.

In my study of Taoist kung fu, chi kung, nei kung and healing – you always erect an offense as well as a defense. NEVER just an offense. He who only has an offense will get slaughtered.

He’ll get slaughtered by physical and non-physical forces. And let’s face it, most of the forces we wade through each day are non-physical. Most people don’t come up to us and slap us, punch us, kick us or hit us with an object. At least not everyday.

Yet, when we spend time with others, why is it we often leave their company feeling drained, vampired, beaten, whooped and slimed?

It’s because we had no defense.

Almost all of the self-help gurus give you an offense with no defense. So you use their techniques and they work for a spell.

But as soon as your energy grows and you’re doing well, others come around and begin syphoning from you. They insert an energetic straw into your field and begin to suck and vampire the life out of you.

In fact, this may sound a bit spooky, but there are forces out there who attempt to do this to you while you sleep. This is just one of the reasons why many people have strange encounters while trying to get a good night’s rest.

If you’ve ever experienced ‘sleep paralysis’ – you know what I’m talking about. You can see and even hear everything going on inside your bedroom, but you cannot move your body. If this has ever happened to you – don’t brush it off and think it’s nothing.

It is definitely something. It’s just as much ‘something’ as walking into a room and feeling something wrong in the air. It’s just as much ‘something’ as going for a walk through Gettysburg and getting the creeps.

At the present moment the best thing you can do to take charge of your life is to get control of your energy.

Eliminate the negative energy attached to you. Don’t just try to picture all the things you want in life.

Clean your external field first. Then clean your internal energy. Think of taking a shower outside as well as in – in your imagination.

It’s not difficult to learn. And you’ll learn how from both me and Dr. Maxwell Maltz in the world famous Zero Resistance Living Program.

Right now you can grab the program for 50% off by typing ‘2009’ into the coupon code area when you place your order.

Along with each order I’ll be including some extra goodies that will help give you extra protection against negative energies and people.

Have You Seen the …

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

People I coach are often asked by those who’ve never met me, “What’s he (me) like?”

My students often struggle with an answer.

Oftentimes they’ll use words like: real, sincere, genuine, authentic, down-to-earth, grounded, … and so on to describe me.

Perhaps they are right. Or wrong.

Thing is, none of these words can ever give you the experience others go through when they attend of my seminars or coaching sessions.

Well, I have two new video clips up  – one LIVE at a 2006 seminar – the other when I’m teaching a powerful mind-body exercise.

I encourage you to – go watch them.

And if you like what you see – choose to make a CHANGE in your life. A change for the better.

I’ll help you do so by making the world famous Zero Resistance Living System available to you for 50% off.

All you need to do is make sure you type ‘2009’ into the coupon when checking out – and you’ll be all set.

This course will positively CHANGE your life for the better… guaranteed.

Grab it now while discounted supplies last.

Time for WHO to CHANGE?

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

An amazing fact. Lesson ONE in the world famous Zero Resistance Living program is ALL about … CHANGE.

Yet, it’s not a change you expect others to make. It’s not a change forced upon you by a government – or by politicians who do as they please regardless of the public opinion.

It’s about CHANGE that comes from within – by YOU.

It’s about CHANGE that takes place when you confront the person looking back at you in the mirror.

It’s about the CHANGE that takes place when you discover that anyone who can remember, worry or ties his shoes, can succeed.

CHANGE is a powerful word.

Think about it for a second. This one word was considered so valuable in the 2008 election, that both sides fought over how to use it.

Isn’t that amazing.

CHANGE – the words sounds and looks so simplistic.

Yet the simple words in life are the ones that get the ball rolling, get you moving and help you summon thing MORE from yourself.

If you want your world to change – then YOU are the WHO that must change.

You’ll learn how in Lesson One of the Zero Resistance Living program. And right now you can get this extraordinary life-summoner for 50% off the standard amount.

Go here and look at the promotion. When you place your order, make sure you type ‘2009’ into the coupon code.

And if you’re still not decided after reading the promo – or if you feel like you don’t have time to read – then just go watch the first couple videos I have playing and that’ll get you going.

Eagle Sins – Cardinal Virtues

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Sports and martial arts contain so many metaphors about what it takes to succeed – that anyone who completely ignores them is truly missing the boat.

When I was in high school, a doctor friend of the family said, “I think you learn MORE from sports than you do from sitting in the classroom.”

He was right.

And yesterday’s NFC title game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals contained several examples of what makes a winner – and what leads to losing.

First, to win, it is NOT the first effort that usually gets the job done. It’s the second and third and fourth efforts. This was readily apparent in the play of Cardinals’ receiver Larry Fitzgerald. He may have longer hair than the rest; he may cut his sleeves a bit higher than most; he may go without thigh and knee pads – but when he catches the ball, you can count on him NOT stopping when hit once. The first time he scored he was hit three times – yet he bounced off each hit and found a way into the end zone.

My friend, THAT is what it takes to win. No matter what you’re doing in life – watch Fitzgerald keep fighting and do the same thing. Never give up at the first sign of trouble or defeat. Keep on keeping on and you’ll be amazed at how many people let up because they expected YOU to stop.

Second, celebrating victory is fine. But be very, very careful about celebrating BEFORE victory. When I watch Donovan McNabb play, I cringe when I see him getting cocky after running for a first down in the first quarter. Dude, you’ve got 3+ quarters to go, and you’re already acting like it’s a done deal. Bad move.

Naturally, the NFL is filled with idiots who showboat whenever they make a great play. They do this, in part, in the hopes of securing a spot in the media upon retirement – and in part because they lack humility. But it’s a dangerous practice that screams, “me, me, me” rather than “team, team, team.”

A week ago, McNabb ran out of bounds against the Giants. He danced before one of the Giants coaches – then picked up the team phone on their sideline. Bad move. Dumb move. And this is precisely the sort of antics that have led to him being a perennial choker.

Third, never let up once you take the lead. The Eagles rallied in the second half, scoring three touchdowns in less than ten minutes. They took the lead by one point, 25-24.

My son wondered if the Cardinals could come back because  the Eagles had shut them down the whole second half.

I said: “Often times a team uses all of its energy to catch up or take the lead, and once they do, they let up again.”

This is precisely what happened in the final ten minutes of the game. The Cardinals drove down the field, controlling the time and the ball – and scored a critical touchdown and 2-pt. conversion.

Even so, they did not celebrate like the game was over. There would be plenty of time for that AFTER the game.

Even though I wasn’t a fan of any of the four remaining teams yesterday – I am NOW. And so I’ll be attending Super Bowl XLIII with my son in another 12 days. Maybe I’ll see you there.

Which jersey will I be wearing.

Perhaps Larry Fitzgeralds’ # 11.

Matt Furey

P.S. Hey, are you following me on Twitter. If not you’re missing out on my daily maxims or activities. You can follow me by going here and creating your own account – which takes about ten seconds.

Nothing Bad Ever Happens to You

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Not sure if you watched the video we put up two days ago here.

If not, make sure you go watch it NOW.

It’s from a LIVE seminar I had in October 2006 – wherein I was guided to tell this story in detail for the first time.

Since doing so my life has changed in many ways – and I’ve discovered that a lot of people experience an emotional healing while watching this clip.

Because 99.5% of people have emotional or internal scars that they have never resolved. And because these scars have never resolved, instead of them acting as spring boards to greater success – they serve as barriers that keep you from being who you really want to be.

Personally, from time to time I had told this same story to people over breakfast, coffee or tea. I had also written about it – as seen in the promotional for the Zero Resistance Living Program.

But speaking about it before a large group of people was a whole different experience. Energy began to build up within me and I found myself pouring out emotion at a level I could not control.

Twas a bit embarrassing at the time – but I kept going anyway as I don’t believe in holding anything back when I speak. I believe in letting the energy flow the way it comes up – and if this involves shedding a tear or two, so be it.

As I spoke, I never thought that others, just by hearing this story, would experience a profound acceptance and transcendence of their own pain, scars and struggle.

Turns out that by telling the raw, uncensored truth about what happened to me when I was 19 – I gave others permission to let their own guards down – to get real – and heal.

Make sure you pay special attention to the line: “Nothing bad ever happens to YOU.”

It’s a tough one to swallow in the age of blame – but acceptance of it may change your life in a heartbeat.

Go here and watch now – and tell your friends and family to do likewise.

Matt Furey

P.S. By the way, later today or tomorrow I’ll be putting another clip up that will contain one of the most powerful mental tools you’ve ever seen or felt. It will give you the power to plow through any and all obstacles in your path. Stay tuned.

The Speech I Never Wanted to Give

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

In October of 2006, at the closing of a seminar, I told a story that I had always refused to speak about publicly.

It was emotional but the positive effect it had on the people who saw it LIVE was incredible.

For the past couple years I have wanted to broad cast it on the Internet for all to see. I’ve been advised by many not to do so. They told me they felt the story too personal – only for those who’ve paid to see me speak live.

Well, this evening, after seeing the clip for the first time in over a year, the same desire to broadcast it for all to see came up again. And this time I’m going with my gut.

Why? Because this video not only contains the story of healing and rising above my own pain – but it also contains the juice that may help many others rise above their own.

Every time I have told this story I have been told by people in the audience that it helped them overcome a personal trauma that they refused to face.

If this talk resonates with you and helps you heal in some way, let me know. And make sure you pass it on to anyone whom you think it may help in some way.

Go see the clip NOW.
